| This run, I was paired with that S-10, with a big block and street tires. So this slip is a yellow color. (LOOSER!)...I tweeked a little more boost in. I was at 12, so I went to 13-14 PSI. Low I left at 5-6, as low as I could get it. This time I was determined to SLIP the clutch and not the tires. I planted my heal down on the floor back on the stagging lanes and tried a couple of slip-launches, till I felt I had it. When I stagged, I only held the rpm up around 1,500. I decided to leave while the next to last yellow was still burning, cause the car would react slowly. The tires barely slipped at all, ... I'm not even sure I ever let the clutch out all the way. As soon as the tach hit 5500 I quick shifted to second and hit the button.... Damn!, ... The tires held!! Now she's pulling. I wound second a little too far and just hit the rev limiter as I power-shifted to third. I carried the tach all the way to 5500 and power-shifted fourth. Now,... the S-10 was back at the stand,... eating a hot dog, but I managed my best time of the night! I am told that every tenth you gain on 60 ft time is equal to 2 tenths off your ET. And look it was almost exactly that! Plus you have to factor in a little more boost for top end HP too. Very cool........ |
