The engine assembly room is the "operating room", for the serious mechanic/engine builder. Parts are washed and dried before entering the room. .... I thought the pastel prints on the towels was an especially nice touch ;)
Here we will assemble the rods and pistons with the pin clips supplied. Everything is coated with an assembly lube that clings to the metal parts, until the engine is fired up and comes to temperature. This prevents skuffing of the surfaces during break-in.
The piston skirts got a moly dry film coating, that lubricates the cylinder walls and protects the pistons. The wrist pin slides in with a push from the thumb. No hammers here please! The pins are held in place by snap ring clips that fit in a groove in the pin hole. The upper part of the piston actually rides on the rings, so the aluminum should never touch the cylinders.  ... This PT engine has some very ince pieces.

The pistons and rods hanging on the rack are for a very large, 457 cu in,  small block chevy truck pull engine.
